Dermaplane, also known as epidermal leveling, is a gentle and effective way to exfoliate the skin leaving it bright and renewed. There is no downtime after getting a dermaplane and it is very popular with our patients before a special event or pictures as smooth glowing skin is amazing with or without make-up.

Step One: Prep the skin by removing any make-up and oils on the skin. It is best to come for this treatment with a clean dry face. Skip your moisturizer and other products the morning of this treatment.

Step Two: Dermaplane exfoliation is performed using a scalpel to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and Vellus hair also known as peach fuzz!

Fun fact: vellus hair can’t grow back darker or thicker that’s an Old wise tale! Terminal hair is dark, thick hair that only grows in certain areas on our bodies. I know that’s a lot of people’s concerns when getting this treatment!

After the treatment, there is a mild redness that will subside typically in 15 minutes to maybe a couple hours as everyone’s skin reacts a little differently.

Step Three: After exfoliation, a mask is applied to hydrate and calm the skin. This mask can be customized to specific skin types or you can even add in a light chemical peel instead to further the exfoliation, depending on if some additional peeling is desired.

Step Four: At the end of the treatment it is important to apply a good quality SPF Sunscreen to protect the newly exposed skin cells from sun damage. You will be a little more sensitive to the sun after this treatment so having a good daily SPF is important. But we think that is important every day! A light tinted moisturizer can also hide any temporary redness.

You can get this treatment before a special event or as often as every 3 to 4 weeks to maintain a smooth and flawless look. We personally love this treatment as removing the top layer of dead skin cells leaves your skin bright and fresh – ready for any products or make-up you use daily.
