Xeomin: Consider the Newest Botox Alternative
For years, we have worked with Botox and Dysport to temporarily correct and smooth fine lines and wrinkles between the brow lines. While both have proven to provide remarkable results, we have recently added Xeomin to our services based on a few key factors that benefit some patients.
No Additives and No Long-Term Resistance
Xeomin, a “naked” form of botulinum toxin reduces the likelihood of a patient developing a long-term resistance to treatment. Xeomin, the latest and third neuromuscular agent to be approved by the FDA, provides the same effects on facial muscle and skin as Botox and Dysport. The procedure, durations, onset to action, and results are virtually identical; however Xeomin is becoming more widely popular because it lacks the carrier proteins or additives found in Botox. While it is fairly uncommon for patients to develop antibody formation, or a resistance, to Botox because of its proteins, there is the potential for it to become ineffective over time.
More Cost-Effective and Accessible
Unlike Botox and Dysport, Xeomin does not have to be refrigerated. Ultimately, patients can benefit from working with a treatment that has a longer shelf life because it is more cost-effective. Many physicians in the cosmetic surgery industry point out that this could help to drive down the cost of Botox, making both more accessible.
Ultimately, your decision will depend on the consultation you receive while in our care. We will walk you through the advantages of each treatment to help you determine which is right for you.
